Paper shortages, which may impact on price.

Dear Customer,

All paper mills continue to deliver inadequate financials returns from the UK which is now amongst the lowest price markets in the world for commodity paper.

The cost of production and logistics, coupled with falling demand, combine to create a very difficult business climate. Unstable currency also means that paper mills selling in the UK market face even poorer returns.

The UK market is facing shortages of main line cooper grades and we expect this to continue until the second half of the year. In addition, grupo Portucel Soporcel have had had difficulties stating their new paper machine up which is adding to the current shortage and industrial action in France and Scandinavia may affect the ports and cause further problems . So we anticipate that supply rather than price may be the issue in the coming weeks and months.
